When selecting a church home, there are a variety of aspects that parents consider. The church nursery is a key component that may either attract or detract parents from attendance. Within the church nursery there are additional characteristics that many parents find to be critical in deciding whether or not to bring the children to church, whether to leave the children in youth services, or whether the children shall remain home. In those instances where parents feel uncomfortable leaving the children with the youth ministry, often one parent will stay home with the children, thereby dividing the family’s worship time.

When parents were asked what was most important in their assessment of a church’s youth program, a number of common themes emerged. One of the more obvious aspects under scrutiny concerned the range of ages serviced by the youth ministry and how those children of various ages are separated. With that, children of different ages require different resources, both from a staffing perspective and from a tools perspective. One way to merge the staffing gap is to incorporate a communication system for the nursery staff. For example, wireless paging with JTECH’s StaffComm™ micro-transmitters enables a nursery with multiple age groups and multiple age programs to operate as a cohesive unit. Many times the church nursery or youth director is unaware in advance of just how many children will show up in each of the age groups. Wireless communication devices such as those by JTECH allow staff to easily communicate and realign resources as needed when additional children show up for service.

Children’s ministry is often staffed by volunteers; all with a heart for children, but with varying gifts and skills. Often, getting the right person at the right time can be a challenge. Thankfully, there is a solution: JTECH’s SmartAlert® messaging systems with StaffComm™ silent paging allows you to send specific messages immediately, and to direct those messages to specific individuals. This increase in communication efficiency will positively impact the level of care you are able to provide to the children in your nursery. StaffComm micro-transmitters and the InstaCall pagers allow you to maximize these varied skills and talents of staff and volunteers, bringing together the right people at the right time. For example, some people bring with them technical expertise, StaffComm and JTECH pagers give you the ability to alert that specific person to help out with a technical problem in one part of the children’s wing. Others have that keen ability to calm a crying child. StaffComm allows you to bring that individual into a specific room to help out at times of crisis.

The nursery director cannot be everywhere at every moment, but StaffComm give other staff members confidence that assistance is never more than a page away. A bonus benefit of using the SmartAlert messaging system is the built-in security system you also now have. StaffComm helps you mobilize nursery staff when there is an emergency. Whether dealing with an injured child or an unwelcome guest, StaffComm increases the level of cooperation between all members of the nursery team. By integrating this system into your church nursery, you will be able to get the right people to the right places at just the right time.

Children’s nurseries aren’t always the calmest place in the church; however, because of their existence, calmness can occur in the sanctuary where the adults are practicing their worship activities. JTECH offers a variety of church nursery solutions that bridge the communication gap between worshipping parents and their children’s nursery caretakers. For example, the PeopleAlert™ desktop transmitter and ParentPass™ pagers create a communication solution that allows nursery staff to silently and discreetly notify parents if their presence is needed in the children’s wing. Whether you are a small or large church, this scalable system will work for you. With a coverage range of up to two miles, you can even operate the children’s nursery in an entirely separate building and yet still ensure seamless communication with parents. Or, if your church is more in need of communication between staff members, there is a solution for that as well. StaffComm™ push button messaging allows you to send detailed and specific messages to key staff members as needed. Perhaps this includes summoning extra staff to help out with a special children’s project, paging a maintenance person to fix a malfunctioning piece of equipment, or calling upon the children’s ministry director to handle a specific or unique situation. Whatever the reason, staff is within communication reach, which can make all the difference.

JTECH solutions are easy to install and easy to operate, as well as easy to maintain. The pagers are rechargeable and are equipped with an out-of-range feature alerting the carrier that he or she has strayed beyond reach with a pager. This is very helpful in preventing accidental pager loss. JTECH’s communication devices can also be very helpful in connecting security staff to nursery personnel. While no one really wants to consider matters pertaining to security in a church setting, it would be irresponsible to not address the potential risks. Ensuring proper communication is the first step toward a more secure church campus.

Childcare is a costly expense that parents must regularly cope with and for which they must plan. It’s gratefully welcomed when an event or function either provides childcare or makes some other accommodation for those parents with children. Churches are in a unique position to bring people and families together. By offering nursery services to the congregation, church attendance naturally increases, not only on Sundays, but also for Bible studies and other events where childcare is also provided. To enhance the quality of your nursery and place parents more at ease, silent wireless pagers are a great addition to your set of tools and resources. JTECH’s ParentPass™ pagers enable staff to reach a specific parent for any situation that might arise with their little one. And, because this church paging system is silent and notify by strong vibration, they won’t disrupt other church-going members.

A recent Gallup Poll found that 92% of Americans believe in God. However, churches across America would argue that 92% of Americans don’t go to church. Herein is an opportunity for churches to become more accommodating and welcoming places for people to attend. The church nursery is a great place to set this standard and create added value and incentive for attendance. Parents will feel more comfortable leaving their young children at the nursery during service or small group prayer time if they are confident that staff can reach them by wireless pager if they are needed. This added sense of ease will allow parents to focus more on fellowship, worship and other spiritual activities. ParentPass wireless pagers are durable, reliable, simple to operate, and best of all, affordable. With a rapid-charging technology, your nursery will always be ready for your church activities. Perhaps one day all 92% of God-believing Americans will have a church to call home. And hopefully, those nurseries will be well-equipped to handle the additional attendance.

Church nurseries really carry a heavy burden of responsibility. Not only are they expected to keep the children safe and well cared for, but they are also to be leading the children in the ways of the church. The latter is clearly the higher calling, but the former cannot be overlooked. JTECH’s Motorola radios and headsets will help take care of the safety and care part so that staff can focus on the true meaning of raising the children with the morals and ideals of the church family. JTECH’s two-way radio communication offerings include the compact Motorola CLS series and the high powered RDX series. Depending on your church’s size and needs, either the CLS series or the RDX series is ideal for creating open lines of effortless communication between key staff members. The CLS series is Motorola’s smallest and least expensive professional model, but still mighty at that. It works well in spaces up to 200,000 square feet. If your facilities are larger than that, the RDX series will accommodate spaces up to 350,000 square feet. In addition, both are compatible with a range of radio headsets which allow for more discreet communication.

Both the CLS and RDX radios will increase your church’s security efforts and thereby increase peace of mind amongst parents leaving their children with nursery staff. This peace of mind will resonate within other areas of the church as well, as less concern will be devoted to the nursery’s ability to provide the best care possible to the church’s most vulnerable population – its children. With between 12 and 26 hours of battery life, these two-way radios are reliable and easily rechargeable as needed given their lithium ion battery. Peace of mind alone cannot be packaged up and put in a box, but a box of JTECH’s Motorola two-way CLS or RDX radios will set you on your way.

Parents play a vital role in supporting a child’s developmental process. Experts in the field of child development can recite the approximate age at which a child should be able to accomplish a variety of tasks such as stacking blocks, rolling a ball, or manipulating eating utensils. In addition, there are expected ways that a child should be interacting with his or her world given his or her age and these include speech development and relating or playing with peers. While it might be easier on nursery staff if all children were right in line with “normal” development, that simply isn’t a realistic expectation, and “normal” development is hard to come by regardless.

One way to deal with the varying and broad developmental needs of multiple children in one nursery setting is to have the parents or guardians accessible in case a child has a break-down or behavioral crisis. It’s not conducive to have one child in the nursery throwing a tantrum at the expense of the other children. JTECH’s PeopleAlert™ wireless messaging system with ParentPass™ pagers connects parents and their children’s nursery staff in a discreet and efficient manner. With a range of up to two miles, there is little concern for not being able to reach the child’s guardian. As developmental needs vary, the communication needs with the parent will also vary. Consider the child who, for example, is learning to potty train but will only use the toilet when mom or dad is present – discreet JTECH pagers enable the nursery staff to page mom or dad back to the nursery when the child expresses a need to go to the bathroom. This is just one way to support and advance the child’s development. From another angle, pagers are also ideal for reducing any separation anxiety that mom or dad might have with leaving the child with nursery staff. All in all, when people work together, raising children is much easier on everyone, including the child.

Being able to communicate easily and efficiently with other church staff facilitates operation of a children’s ministry or children’s nursery. Internal communication between church staff is obtainable and maximized with the integration of JTECH’s InstaCall™ numeric and alphanumeric pagers. Perhaps nursery staff needs to contact maintenance to clean up a spill or fix a broken light. JTECH InstaCall pagers make this a snap. Or, perhaps nursery staff needs to reach the youth pastor for assistance with a worship project. Whatever the need may be, staff is available to help one another out. Being part of a church community is an invaluable experience that requires the collaboration of the entire church staff. These pagers will allow you to deliver fast and reliable messages. The delivering of actionable and vital information will allow you to run a smoother operation.

Being able to work together as a team lightens the load of the whole church staff. This is a group of people who are often already overextended and working as hard as they can to make the greatest impact in the greatest number of lives. Communicating internal needs between church departments and between church staff members is key. The book of Hebrews, chapter ten verse 25, says, "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching." The Bible instructs us to be in relationship with other believers, in a body of believers, in the church. It is as members of a body that we belong together and belong to one another. Just as the various parts of the body work together, so should the various parts of a church. More effective communication helps make this a reality.

Church isn’t the first place people usually think of when they think of an increased need for security. However, it’s exceedingly relevant and valid. The need is so great that there are actually organizations dedicated exclusively to covering the church security industry. A system like JTECH’s SmartAlert® messaging system is a great addition to your church security program. Effective security is dependent upon strong communication between staff members. But it’s also important that the type of communication be appropriate for your organization or industry. For example, in a church setting, it’s important that security not be the central focus, or better said, the first thing people see when they walk in the doors. While lots of visible and audible security is expected and acceptable at a football game, it just isn’t appropriate in a place of worship. By using a silent system, you can be assured to not disturb the time of worship unnecessarily.

Speed and timing is also of the essence. Wireless pagers give you direct access to staff at the quick press of a button. Pages can be sent from a small push button transmitter or any phone on the church’s PBX. It’s that attentive communication that will help prevent precarious situations from escalating. While some may scoff at the thought of security in church, the Bible advises otherwise. Proverbs chapter 22, verse 3 says “foresee danger and plan ahead.” Equipping your security staff with the proper tools to succeed, such as with wireless communication devices like pagers and two-way radios is the prudent and wise thing to do. Having a security framework in place such as the SmartAlert messaging system can also be very useful in emergency situations that might not be security related, for example in a health or safety scare. Natural disasters are also a relevant concern that can be attended to by having a communication paging system in place. Regardless, church should be a place where families feel safe to worship fully and without technological distraction.

There is a saying, “A mother holds her child’s hand for a short while but their hearts forever.” This could not be more accurate. Even if you’re not a parent, you have parents, and it’s pretty likely that at some point in your adulthood they have continued to muddle in your business. This is just because they love you, even though that is hard to see when they are telling you what color you should paint your house! But, long before your get to the stage where they are holding your heart, they are still holding your hand. This has the potential to be a problem in settings where mother (or father) and child must go in separate directions. For example, many churches offer nurseries where worshipping parents can with confidence drop off their children. This allows mom and dad to really hear the message, on an adult level, while the children spend time with other kids and maybe even engage in some age-appropriate worship or biblical lesson. JTECH’s ParentPass™ pagers make that separation time a little more bearable. These lightweight, rechargeable pagers are simple to use and give parents the peace of mind to know that they really are at their children’s fingertips, even if it doesn’t always feel like it.

ParentPass pagers operate on UHF (ultra high frequency) providing maximum range with capabilities great enough to span between the parish house and the worship center. It’s also very beneficial that these pagers have a rapid-charging technology which allows them to recharge in 2-3 hours or less. This is extra handy for churches holding Saturday evening and/or Sunday morning and evening services. So while parents do have to let go at some point, ParentPass pagers are sort of like training wheels for that period of separation.

Five hundred pastors and lay leaders from more than two hundred churches filled a seminar room. The question was asked as to who had attended a seminary, Christian college, Bible college, or Christian K-12 school. Those that had were asked to stand. Nearly everyone stood up. Then they were asked to remain standing if in their educational experiences someone had opened up the Scriptures to give a better understanding of biblical stewardship and financial principles for guiding their personal life or church ministry. After listening to the muffled sounds of hundreds of people sitting back down, the seminar leader saw that only two people remained standing. He asked the two standing to tell everyone what their stewardship experience had been. One mentioned that a Bible college professor took some time during a class to explain to his students the biblical financial principles that guided his life and decisions. The other person said that Larry Burkett came to his seminary one day when the seminary offered an optional Saturday course. He had not gone, but heard from a friend that about 10 people had attended the optional event.

If churches are only using “stewardship truths” to fund the budget, pay the bills, or get building dollars, they will miss God’s intention for stewardship teaching. God’s goal is always transformed lives – men and women, boys and girls, transformed by the truth and power of God’s Word. In Dr. George Barna’s national research he discovered that 52% of the people who read their Bible on the own were givers to their church. The less frequently someone reads the Bible, the less likely they are to be faithful givers at church. The more an individual learns God’s perspective on life – and finances, giving, material possessions, etc. – the more likely he or she is to have a heart for giving to God’s work. Part of getting the most out of a Church service requires the ability to truly focus on the message being delivered. This is best done when church nurseries utilize wireless paging systems such as those by JTECH. ParentPass™ pagers offer much more than peace of mind, they offer parents the opportunity to focus on God’s Word, which results in better stewards of faith.
